A small tourist town in the mountains outside of Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs is notable for several reasons inclined the Incline; a 1 mile advanced, well-maintained trail that sees heavy traffic near year-round as well as nearly 2,000 feet of elevation gain (1,922 feet, to be exact) with 45-68% grades.

A winding switchback that leads back to the parking lot from the top; a descent down the incline is not recommended.

The incline is open from 6 am – 6 pm, and you will usually have to pay for parking, which is scarce during the busy summer months. Check out the Manitou Springs Incline’s official website here, which includes information about the free shuttle.
