Tickets to Blossoms of Light are $16 and are available on the Botanic Gardens website. The Denver Botanic Gardens provides a discount to members, and is open year round but the Blossoms of Light only runs until January 1st; tickets have sold fast and I would recommend purchasing them quickly. Seasonal activities in Colorado change with, well, the seasons; snowboarding and skiing are quite obviously hard to do without snow. In the city, the seasons change, fashion changes, and winter brings a few unique opportunities. First and foremost may be the Blossoms of Light at Denver’s very own Botanic Gardens.

The Botanic Gardens are like, regular gardens, but like Botanic…well, the highlight of this article isn’t going to be my witty commentary. In past years, the event was a series of installations; plants, trees, various fixtures hung with lights. This year, the highlight for me was below, a glass sculpture by Dave Chihuly. I’m a fan of his work and visited the Chihuly Exhibit in Seattle, Washington last year.

The Blossoms of Light have a clear start and finish, a meandering loop through the various biomes that have been laid out and cultivated on the garden’s grounds. Trees laden with lights line several walkways, and here and there are very photogenic landscapes.

On the far end of the garden near a series of pools, another art installation was set up – a series of balls or globes.

All jokes aside, it is a unique exhibit, and cafes near the entrance have cider and hot chocolate as well as snacks that are likely to be overpriced. The experience is wholesome and enjoyable. I might make it a tradition!

Along the way there are a number of sweet photo opportunities, including the below well-lit gazebo. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a fun weekend. Make sure to buy tickets in advance – they sell out quickly!
